EDF Renewables is in the process of developing the Columbia Solar, a 350 MW Solar and 20 MW Storage project in Columbia, Litchfield and Winfield, New York.
New York is leading the nation in renewable energy with a goal of using 70% renewables by 2030, and EDF Renewables is leading the solar energy charge starting with the Columbia Solar and Storage Project (the Project). A growing solution to energy demands, solar power is a safe, clean technology that New York residents and businesses want now. The initiatives outlined in the State Energy Plan can be found here.
The Facility will safely generate enough clean, renewable electricity to power 80,000 New York households. The Facility will interconnect to the New York power grid via a new Point of Interconnection (POI) in the Town of Columbia, tapping into the New York Power Authority’s ‘Marcy South’ 345 kilovolt (“kV”) transmission lines which run through the project area. The Facility will be sited on approximately 1,800-2,000 acres of leased private and mostly cleared land.
